Project description
Overhaul of an urban quarter at
the south end of downtown Cologne
On the grounds of the former police headquarters in the Severinsviertel, a vibrant urban quarter was created that combines living, shopping and working. Through its built structure with publicly accessible quiet courtyards, the new Waidmarkt presents itself as open and at the same time intimate. It offers a high quality of stay for residents and occupiers.
The entire ensemble — with the office buildings on Waidmarkt and Blaubach, Motel One and Adagio on Tel-Aviv-Strasse, retail space including a REWE supermarket, six residential buildings with 110 units and an extension building for the adjacent Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium with a canteen, plus 409 parking spaces in a partly public underground car park — was completed in 2012. The quarter was one of the first in Germany to be awarded a DGNB certificate in GOLD.
The principal was FAY Waidmarkt GmbH & Co. KG.
